ASJP’s mission focuses on enhancing social justice interests and awareness among young adults through the gospel message and collaboration with members of the Marianist Family who strive for justice. We recognize that young adults are oftentimes underserved in parish and faith group settings, yet remain a tremendous resource of experience and leadership for our Marianist future.

Engaging Young Adults in Social Justice

VOLUNTEER!

Any interest in learning more about or joining this issue team?

The Adele Social Justice Project has recently developed a program called Kickin' It Events which focus on creating a space for dialogue for young adults. ASJP piggy backs on other MSJC programs, especially virtual events, and invites anyone present to stay after to dialogue with specific questions produced by ASJP. Two Kickin' It Events have taken place so far after these team events:
  1. Immigration and Your Vote Panel facilitated by our Immigrant Justice Issue Team
  2. St. Mary's Law Student Cody Huffman's Experience with Melissa Lucio's Case facilitated by our Death Penalty Abolition and Restorative Justice Issue Team
Be on the lookout for future Kickin It Events which support our MSJC programs, intentionally bring more young people into conversation, and help people of all ages learn from the voices and gifts of younger Marianists.

Kickin' It Events

The Adele Social Justice Project has put a major focus on hosting community-centered podcast discussion groups within the Marianist Family and beyond. These discussion groups are focused on social justice issues and faith.
Most recently, the ASJP team has committed host a discussion group called the Another Name for Everything Series each year Lent. This is a 7-week series of prayer, reflections and conversations about Richard Rohr's podcast based on his book The Universal Christ. The group engages in weekly  conversations and reflections about the connections between action & contemplation. More information will be here once dates have been confirmed for this series.

Our Current Projects

Inspired by our Marianist foundress, Adele de Batz de Trenquelléon, we engage young adults toward deeper involvement in the Marianist Family, particularly in social justice efforts. Any “young adult” who lives in or is intrigued by the Marianist spirit is welcome to participate in ASJP events. We define a young adult as anyone between 22-39 years of age. ASJP invites recent alumni from University of Dayton, St. Mary’s University, and Chaminade University to join in ASJP events in hopes that new graduates will become familiar with what the Marianist Family has to offer for young adults after college.
